Love this song. A full fucking sprint the entire way through.
'Rangers head into break on top' →
I won’t get too ahead of myself because this is strange territory for a New York Rangers fan, but the outlook is extremely positive going into the second half of the season.
So far so good.

Just because I’ve been listening to a lot of Meshuggah doesn’t mean I don’t have time for The Best Band on Earth.

Meshuggah - Nebulous
*
This whole album, Nothing, is nearly perfect. I’ve been listening to a lot of Meshuggah in preparation for their new album at the end of March.
Everyone Drinks the Poop from the Soup
Hey, that rhymes!
I took a drive today to two places that are sort of (but not actually closely) related: The first place was to my doctors office. You see, I’ve been having short bursts of very sharp pain in my groin area. Needless to say I was slightly alarmed, as this has been going on for over two months. My mom thought that it may be a hernia. A little known fact about me is that I was...
'Look at that, you son of a bitch'
Edgar Mitchell, Apollo 14 astronaut, People magazine, April 1974:
You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics looks so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles...
The Start of Something Beautiful
You may be the one of those people to know that it’s like to live through a disaster. Maybe you were the only survivor of a plane crash. Maybe in 1988, a plane full of graduates from the McCullenville University of Jester Studies goes down in a fiery ball of hilariousness in a Ohio corn field. The only reason you survived the crash was because your clowning had caused severe depression....

No Man
One of the gifts from my parents this Christmas was a new iPod. I love music, so a functioning iPod is a must-have for me. I had used a 32 GB original iPod touch for a few years until earlier this month when the screen went white on me.
I didn’t want another iPod touch, so I got a 16 GB nano (orange) instead. The reasoning behind this massive drop in storage is my desire to trim...

At 3:31 this song becomes one of the best songs I’ve heard in quite some time. What a fucking genius this man is. I totally have a non-gay man crush on him.

Great song. Holy fuck. Addicting.
Belle de Jour
I think when alien super-beings examine me during their eventual mass invasion, I feel that they’ll describe me as a quiet and forgettable human with a moderately less than plausible risk of leading a massive human revolt that forces their race back into outer space where they came from.
The conclusion that I’m a forgettable person isn’t new to me. I’ve been told...

Meshuggah - Bleed
*
This features the best drumming of any song I’ve ever heard. That a person can work a drum kit this fast is amazing to me. I wish I could do things like this.
This much is clear, I love Meshuggah more now than I ever have.

There were no leads. No pitch. No agenda.
Just a man and a circle.
I saw a man walk in a circle on my street today. No, literally in a circle. As if he was following a painted line around a invisible hole in the street. So picture this: An older man wearing a brown coat doing a complete 8-foot circumference walk around an invisible circle in the middle of the road.
Maybe he saw something on the...

Metallica - Harvester of Sorrow

Holy shit what a crazy catchy riff. So fucking good.
Also, I feel like an idiot for taking so long to get into Metallica. I definitely took the long road around to finally end up at the footsteps of a band that’s been standing in front of me the entire time.

I literally got goosebumps when this song came on shuffle — Best Band on Earth.
As an aside: I’ve got some seriously smelly farting going on right now. I’m gonna go sit on the bowl or something.
Sex and Vollyballs
Part 1: Closing the distance between sanity and boredom
My neighbors across the street held a garage sale last weekend. It’s interesting to me—from a sociological perspective—to observe the different types of people who browse the used merchandise. Some will take one look around and then leave but there are the ones who linger for a ridiculous (almost uncomfortable) amount of...

So the other day my mom and I go to Ikea to look for a desk lamp. After walking around the store for a while we make it to the registers. I look over to see the most perfect body I’ve ever seen on a woman standing with her back to me in the next line over. Her back is still turned to me after moments which seem like hours waiting for her to turn the fuck around so I can see her beautiful...

Metallica - …And Justice for All
*
While I think Lulu is—honest to God—the worse music album I’ve ever heard. Metallica used to be quite awesome. Their 1988 album …And Justice for All is damn near being a fucking masterpiece. The title song off the album is just a small part of the evidence. I’d call it “progressive trash metal.”
Metal Underground's Review of Metallica/Lou Reed's... →
There are few moments on history that leave such a strong indelible mark on the world: the sinking of the Titanic, the crash of the Hindenburg, 9/11 and the Tokyo earthquake. It’s safe to add the Metallica/Lou Reed collaboration “Lulu” to those moments that are so horrible that they change the entire world for the worse decades after they’ve happened.
Here’s a link to the album in...

It’s currently 3:42 in the AM and I can’t fucking sleep for shit. I’ve been reading Double Dexter for the past 3-hours or so. My eyes are beginning to hurt.
Nights like these suck. No matter what I do I can’t fall asleep, and of course thinking about it makes me even more awake. The harder you try to sleep the less likely it’s actually gonna happen.

Porcupine Tree - Remember Me Lover
*
I just fucking love this song so fucking much. It has everything a Porcupine Tree song should have. Porcupine Tree is such a perfect example of a band that I never would’ve liked just a few years ago. They’re so different from the likes of Meshuggah, Gojira, Mushroomhead, Slipknot, Metallica, and Devildriver. But that what makes the music so good...

AC/DC - Highway to Hell
*
Sometimes you can’t beat the classics. And with me getting older I’m now enjoying AC/DC, Boston, Queen and other older bands more. I think I used to be cynical in that these bands are too old and thus the music sucks. A lot of what they do can naturally be heard in todays metal bands. It’s just another part of me trying to broaden my musical pallet (if...

Also, you better get the Red Bull X2010 while it’s FREE until October 16th. It’s the best car in the game, and arguably the best in the history of Gran Turismo. It’s tough to handle at first, but it’s effortless after getting used to its power....
